What is a Standard ???

“Standards define what great looks like, setting consistent benchmarks for businesses and consumers alike — ensuring reliability, building trust, and simplifying choices.

Making lives easier, safer and better.”

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) website (retrieved 7/15/24)

Why are Standards Important ???

- Construct an efficient and effective means of “making things safer and better in the world around us” (ISO 2030:Vision & Mission, n.d., p. 10)

- Create a common global language and process

- Provide significant benefit to companies/organizations (e.g., higher growth rates, employment, & earnings) (e.g., Neyestani & Juanzon, 2017)

- Ensure rigor by providing benchmarks for excellence

- Ground action in evidence-based (i.e., “best”) practices

- Foster collective continuous improvement

- Compel compliance to ensure competitive edge in a global market

What is ISO:30415 ???

The ISO:30415 Diversity & Inclusion Standard:
- Informs and systematizes disciplinary excellence [i.e., fosters disciplinary excellence through: a) engagement of all trained people, b) increased capacity for problem-solving and innovation; and c) resilience in the face of stress and challenge]
- Promotes a systematic approach to diversity and inclusion, as opposed to the more common ad hoc approach
- Provides foundation for accreditation and discipline certification
Fosters accountability for continual improvement

How is the ISO:30415 Similar to and Different from Other DEI Assessment?

Similar to Other Assessments:

- Series of statements evaluated by a “Likert Scale” or “Maturity Scale”

- Fosters benchmarking of activities

Different from Other Assessments:

- Ratified across 160+ countries

- Improved by ISO standard iterations

- Based on an actionable set of evidence-based practices

- Incorporates “Measurement” of actions

- The “Maturity Score” is determined based on “proof” (i.e., evidence of activity)

- Onboards and guides “Next Steps” in a scaffolded, “bite-sized” fashion

- Supports professional society continuous improvement

- Provides centralized access to professional society data for reference

- Identifies potential revenue-generating professional development opportunities to sustain the work

We have created a crosswalk

A parallel between the ISO-30415 Standard and other standards assessments to translate any organizational or industry function into the delivery of DEI-as-a-service

This is the normal practice in professionalizing and standardizing other industrial practices. The REVIIS project is establishing DEI&B as a standardized profession with actions & measurable designed for delivering maturity in organizational delivery.
